With Things As Bad As They Are

As our closest die cascade of irreparable bitterness resides numbness fills a shrinking a heart as tragedy sets in no one can begin to speak in time With everything in place there isn’t any room to reach them before they reach the gates guilt that digs like elbows in you reddens to a bruise it’s all that you can do to seem sane Stars aligned to sabotage the world this year In highs and lows we’re extra high in fear And with things as bad as they are why does it feel the worst is yet to come? A friend disappears fades from view and changes til you almost forgot until you come across the words; a friend of friend telling that they have passed away Where love once was shared barren, thoughtless occupants are locked in cold stares separate rooms and exit wound contortioned and bare bleeding on until the tape runs out Stars aligned to sabotage the world this year In highs and lows we’re extra high in fear And with things as bad as they are why does it feel the worst is yet to come? All the unanswered tears the devastated, shattered lives the drowned and missing lost for words and praying, waiting the wait of their lives and they may close their eyes before they know And with all this to try to push through and carry on They still have the nerve to send the ones we know and love to die in the dirt Disgraced and undeserved and they’re unscathed? What the fuck is wrong with all the world this year? Does anyone feel anything but hate and greed and fear? And with things as bad as they are why does it feel the worst is yet to come? In highs and lows we’re extra high in fear And with things as bad as they are why does it feel the worst is yet to come? Safely where you are I know you’re feeling sadder than ever before even in your dreams it seems there isn’t any hope and we all leave alone
