about

(As this demo shows, I was a real emo kid, not just one who bought the outfit at Hot Topic and wore it while it was cool.)

This was conceived after my first band Slip To Save You ended in my Junior/Senior year of high school. All tracks were recorded on a Tascam 4-Track (remember those?). They are very raw. Please do not adjust your audio player, the errors, mistakes, and inconsistencies which appear periodically are real. This includes but is not limited to cassette hiss, over-dubbing pops, damaged cassette transfer clicking and skipping, and performer issues such as trouble keeping time and having good intonation.

All joking aside, this still holds up in terms of heart, concept and consistency in sound. It's a cohesive, yet primitive body of work that I'd say was the precursor for several projects which followed in later years.

*Studio versions of "Anew", "Far From Stars", "Ballad of the Abuser", and "In Closing" appeared on the post Slip To Save You members acoustic venture Jumpercable Sweatshirt's debut EP "You Can Only Hear If You're Listening" (2002).

*Studio versions of "Last Summer" and "Lost" appear on the first studio acoustic Pale Like You EP, "For Your Yearbook" (2002).

*"For This Distance" and "i remember" are probably the hardest for me to listen to, due to their desperate sentimental value.

*"Dissonant" has a large portion of skips, other songs may have a second here and there but that one is rough after the beginning until about the middle.

"The Bottom" really should be 3 different songs. It was the ending to a trilogy that began with "Desi & Johnny" and "Epiphany" which also appear on "For Your Yearbook" (2002). I performed the trilogy live with a guest piano player in my senior English class. Needless to say there were concerns afterword..

*I stumbled though Placebo's "Burger Queen" without knowing how to play piano at all, as my first solo attempt at a cover song.

I hesitate even releasing these, but at least here on the interwebs they can live somewhat forever, and I don't have to worry something becoming of the original copies. It's here so others can enjoy it and allow it the chance to live on.
