about

In 2004 Pale Like You became a three-piece consisting of Jon Dinan on drums, Monika Santucci on bass and backup vocals and Doug Young on lead guitar and vocals. After working on a batch of thirty-plus songs for a year, a physical release was needed in order to justify playing shows. The Lighter Side of Devastation was compiled from a variety of tracks that not only best supported the new live aspect but also hinted at where the band and the new sound was headed. It was meant to be a teaser for the planned full length album, The Constant State of Peripeteia.

*"In The Surrounding Blue" is an excerpt of the buried spoken word portion of "Drowning" which later appeared on The Constant State of Peripeteia: The Rare & Unreleased Demos and Remixes Vol. II.

*"So Imperfect (Reprise)" is an instrumental which was used as a background track on the website in 2003. The demo appears on Devastation / Peripeteia Demos and the full track demo later appears on The Constant State of Peripeteia: The Rare & Unreleased Demos and Remixes Vol. II.

*"It's Crawling In My Skin" is a stripped-down, short instrumental teaser of "The State I Wake In" which later appeared on The Constant State of Peripeteia: The Rare & Unreleased Demos and Remixes Vol. I.

*"An Epilogue (i remember Reprise)" begins with a re-recorded version of "i remember" which appears in complete demo form on "For This Distance".
